EMBC Proxy Settings – Blackberry Playbook

Playbook inside your school network

With the recent price drops the Blackberry Playbook looks like a very interesting option in schools.

The Playbook has come from a very different heritage than other devices (like IPads) and some of the configuration options show this.

Wireless and network configurations abound in the Playbook, and setting the proxy settings for school networks is very easy -

Here’s how you do it:-

On the home screen select the settings icon (top right hand corner)

playbook desktop

On the menu that then appears select wifi

playbook wifi page

The Playbook approach to proxy settings is different from PCs. On PCs the proxy setting is handled by the browser, on Playbooks the proxy is handled by the specific wireless setting.

In order to use proxy server settings you will need to set up the wireless connection manually (so you will need to know the wireless SSID, the type of security your school is using and the security code for the wireless).

On the wifi screen select the option to set manually

playbook manual connect1

Fill in the information for your wireless connection (use the drop down on the security tab to decide the type of security your link uses).

Fill in the proxy information as follows. This is the way EMBC users are set up, your broadband may be set differently. Playbooks do work this way within E2BN networks (using their settings).

When you have made the settings, be sure to click save.

Has this information helped you? Do you have the relevant information for your broadband proxy settings?

  1. Hands down, Apple’s software pgakcae retailer captures by way of kilometer. It’s a huge selection of a number of blog since a fairly depressing assortment of a few with respect to Zune. microsoft’ seems to have pgakcaes, specifically in the particular arena of video game titles, and yet I’m undecided I’d want to chance at the future once this aspect is very important back to you. Ipod is mostly a more desirable variety if so.

We'd love to hear from you
